The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed the 178 conditions that make people eligible for Personal Independence Payments (PIP). The most recent government data shows that as of March 2026, more than 3.9 million people were getting PIP.
Eligibility for PIP is not determined by National Insurance contributions and it’s not means-tested – meaning that even if you’re employed, have savings, or are receiving other benefits, you can still qualify for the payments to help you with daily living tasks.
PIP consists of a daily living rate and a mobility rate – you maybe eligible for just one of these payments or both at the same time. Both of these rates offer a standard rate and an enhanced rate.
