Building Information Modelling

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a true evolution for the construction industry which sees every collaborator on a project use a more information-rich design method. Individual designs (such as those of steel work, electrical, kitchen, interiors) will be created by separate sub-contractors, all of which are then compiled into one cohesive, functioning 3D model by the main contractor or architect.
This method increases the accuracy with which the main contractor can allocate fund distribution and radically improves the efficiency of the project by consolidating all sub-contractor work into one model, ironing out possible clashes and imperfections before the construction phase of the project has even commenced.
We are fully BIM-ready and proficient in both Autodesk, Autocad and Revit. We continually push our boundaries to be at the forefront of building information modelling implementation both within our company and the industry.

Construction

In 2016 the government mandated Building Information Modelling Level 2 implementation for all contractors and sub-contractors working on public sector projects. We’ve invested heavily in staff training and software over the past few years and have ensured we’re able to continue our specialism in public sector work. Having worked across a significant section of Private Finance Initiative (PF2) schools, all in Revit format and in full compliance with BIM standards has allowed us to understand the needs of both our customers and their contractors.

While clash detection will resonate with all main contractors and architects that use Revit, we aim to exceed expectations by offering comprehensive bid support. During the tender process we provide numerous 3D visualisations of our design to accompany our space plan layouts, as well as 360° panoramic renders and full literature packs.

The tender-stage support we provide creates a richer bid proposal for our construction industry clients allowing them to gain a competitive advantage at the final decision. Upon instruction to proceed, 3D visuals and 360° renders are free to be used by our clients and end users for both internal and external marketing purposes.

Feedback from restauranteurs and catering managers who’ve made use of our building information modelling facility suggests that the 3D visualisation service we provide proves invaluable when reviewing the progress and possibilities of their project’s design.

We offer rapid prototyping through a quick-turnaround render process; this allows clients to switch between materials with a wait time of around 5 minutes to judge what suits their venue best (compared to hours in AutoCAD and 3DS Max). By viewing the finished article in a 3D visual, our clients are able to envisage exactly what they’ll receive from Garners and how the kitchen and/or servery will look in a real environment, ensuring clarity of solution and in turn, client satisfaction.

Revit allows us to combine 2D and 3D imagery, allowing customers who may not be as familiar with layout plans as those within the construction sector to visualise the final product. This in particular results in greater spatial awareness allowing constructive contribution from both the client and their team members who will actually be using the kitchen equipment.

As part of this package, we also supply 360° panoramic renders of projects to their respective owners. While this is useful for the aforementioned reasons (material approval, clarity of solution, spatial awareness), the use of 360° renders particularly suits end users in an operational sense. By going from point to point in their virtual venue and having a full view of what staff and customers will see, our clients have a good perspective to co-ordinate their services and ensure they hit the ground running when the design is realised.
